IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS ITEM WILL BE SHIPPED ON MAY 30th. This listing is for ONE mint, never-issued two-piece M1 helmet replacement chinstrap. It is genuine out-of-the-original-factory-box new US government issue, NOT a copy or reproduction. These straps were produced in the USA between 1965 and 1972 by the original manufacturer: North and Judd Mfg. Co. in New Britain, Connecticut. They are made of OD#7 (olive green) cotton webbing and come with a DULL black-oxide metal finish with crimp-on tabs. They have the T1 "ball and hook" release and are correct for the post-Korea through post-Vietnam period. Straps are 16 inches long when connected. These type straps were used by US Forces from November 1944 until about 1982. They began to be replaced in the 1980s by a nylon/cotton split-chin hook-in strap that didn't require pliers for installation. These looked somewhat similar to airborne liner straps. Let me know if you'd like a strap with an anchor. Unless you tell me otherwise, at checkout or when you pay, I will ship the one without the anchor. These two types of straps are identical except for the anchor stamping*. Do not confuse these with thin-metal "NATO" chinstraps sold elsewhere on eBay. They don't call them NATO straps and they look similar and will work OK, but if they have painted black metal parts, they're not US made. Also, they often cost more than real ones. Why pay more for a copy? All of our straps are returns from Vietnam. You are bidding on ONE chinstrap of your choice, NOT TWO. Original boxes of 50 straps are shown for reference only and are not included. Your strap will come from one of these boxes. These straps were never individually packaged. Shipping by first class mail is FREE to ANYWHERE in the world. Delivery confirmation is included in the US. In the event of loss outside the US we will provide proof of mailing only. For guaranteed delivery outside the US you can choose Priority Mail with delivery receipt for $27.75 additional (my actual cost). *Apparently, the anchor logo was first used in the mid-sixties and was discontinued when the manufacturer, North and Judd, was acquired by Gulf and Western Industries in 1967. Chinstraps produced after 1967 had NO anchor although some boxes dated as late as 1969 still contained anchor straps. Most collectors prefer straps without the anchor simply because they're harder to find. We have plenty of both in our inventory.
