This is a fine Tonkotsu signed by Ikeda Taishin (1825-1903). He was appointed Imperial Craftsman in 1896. It depicts Hydrangea and Butterfly very pleasingly rendered in aogai, gold and silver takamaki-e also with applied metal leaves on a well carved fruitwood case. I love the simplicity of the design. The condition is as seen in the photos with some losses ( please look at photos carefully before bidding). The cases design, materials and techniques shows the influence of Shibata Zeshin. Measures: Height 9.7 cmsWidth 9.5 cmsDepth 3.5 cms This item will be sent fully tracked and insured, so the cost of shipping will vary, depending on the end of auction price, and how that affects the insurance. I have quite a few good quality pieces of japanese art, netsukes and Okimono currently for sale, with more to follow over the next few weeks, so please check my other items regularly! I am also listing some European quality items.
