"Real Japanese Sword, Made in Japan, From Japan, By Japanese Seller" DESCRIPTION Product:NBTHK attested & Daimyo registered 88.2 cm Japanese Katana sword in Gorgeous mountings Included:Antique signed Japanese Katana sword in Koshirae mountingsSword bag, which is made of Kimono clothNBTHK certificate (original)Daimyo sword registration issued by Fukushima Prefecture Board of Education (copy (original shall be returned to the local authority)) Appealing Points: NBTHK, the most prestigious non-profit sword organization in Japan, attests authenticity of this sword in its certificate. The original certificate comes with."Daimyo" Registration: This sword was registered in 1951, the initial year that the current sword registration system started in Japan. Such swords, which were registered in a few years after the system started, are called "Daimyo" (feudal lord) registration swords as it was Daimyo or other Daimyo-like wealthy families who owned many precious swords and were asked by the Japanese government to register their swords in the early stage of the newly introduced registration system to familiarize it to the society. Accordingly, there are many precious swords in the Daimyo registration swords, and many collectors prefer them.NBTHK attests in its certificate that this sword was smithed by Minamoto Sukenobu (源祐信), who was one of top swordsmiths in late Edo period and whose sword was devoted to Shinto shrine. The blade is 88.2 cm (34 3/4") (cutting edge is 71 cm), very long, and sturdy and healthy.Hamon temper lines are dynamic and beautiful.The blade is finely polished and is in very good condition.The blade is well forged and has nice forging grains.Koshirae mountings are gorgeous.Saya scabbard has beautifully drawn "Ho-ou" Japanese phoenix on the both sides.Tsuba guard is Kai-tsukushi (貝尽くし), which has artistically carved shells on the both sides. The Tsuba is signed (illegible).Fuchi collar and Kashira cap are artistic.Habaki collar is beautiful "Kin-kise" gold foiled.Nice Kojiri end cap is attached to Saya scabbard. Sword bag is made of beautiful Kimono cloth and has "Ho-ou" Japanese phoenix design like in Saya scabbard.Features:NBTHK certificate: Status is Tokubetsu Kicho (特別貴重, specially precious), dated June 21, 1970, numbered 191765. Mei signature: (front) 横山左近将監源祐信作 (Yokoyama Sakon Shokan Minamoto SUKENOBU saku), (back) 備前長船住 (Bizen Osafune ju).
