Due to an increase in unpaid items and cancellations, we are now enforcing eBay’s “Unpaid Item” policy. Their policy states, “If you've placed a winning bid or clicked the Buy It Now button in a listing, you've committed to purchasing that item. If you don't pay for it, even if you've changed your mind, you violate the unpaid item policy.” If you choose to not pay for, or cancel, an item, we will open an unpaid item case against you and work with eBay to have your buying privileges revoked. We are a small business and it is unfair for us to suffer losses each week due to customers changing their minds or not reading the full description of an item. Before bidding, please make sure you have read through the listing, considered any shipping or import/duty charges, and are willing to pay your high bid. Thank you for your understanding! The band itself is 10k yellow gold, has applied leaf patterns on the shoulders, and is smoothly polished for a comfortable fit. Damage: Age appropriate wear. The onyx has significant facet wear and can be replaced by your local jeweler if desired. The buttercup setting measures approximately 7.1 mm in diameter and can hold any stone of your choosing. *Display items do not come with purchase, item only, unless otherwise noted.* The History This beautiful piece was made during the Victorian period! The Victorian period is famous for its very rare and elegant, hard to find designs! Queen Victoria was the ruling monarch for this time period, 1837-1901, hence the name Victorian. Buttercup settings were made popular during the Victorian era. The setting features a series of high raised prongs, which rise from a base of six scalloped edges, serving to secure the stone and make it more prominent to any viewer. From above, this setting resembles its namesake, buttercup flowers. Onyx is a chalcedony quartz that is mined in Brazil, India, California, and Uruguay. It has a fine texture and black color; however, some onyx also displays white bands or ribbons against a black or brown background and this variety is known as sardonyx. Onyx that has a deep green shade is known as Brazilian green onyx, and is very rare; it became a popular stone for sculpture and jewelry in the 1920s and 1930s. The name comes from the Greek word onyx which means nail of a finger or claw. Legend says that one day while Venus was sleeping, Eros/Cupid cut her fingernails and left the clippings scattered on the ground. Because no part of a heavenly body can die, the gods turned them into stone which later became known as onyx.
