Here is a beautiful Newcomb College Pottery vase in semi-matte purplish glaze with pink/rose colored leaves that look like Oak leaves. It is very well carved with good contrast and color. It measures 5 5/8 inches tall and 5 inches in diameter at the widest. The top is 3 inches wide and the base is 2 7/8 inches. Marked with the firm's die-stamped NC mark, a conjoined AFS for artist Anna Francis Simpson, date code GE for 1913, a conjoined JM for potter Joseph Meyer, a B inside of a circle which indicates a buff clay body with a semi-matt glaze used mostly between 1910 and 1912, a number 176 which is a shape number, and an inscribed 96. An exceptionally nice example of the quintessential Arts & Crafts southern art pottery. On the outside bottom are remnants of sticker glue. Inside on the bottom is a drop of blue that is the same color blue as the blue on the outside bottom in the markings. If you have any questions please contact me.This vase is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, repairs or firing flaws. The display stand is not included.
