THESE (PILLAR DOLLARS) SILVER DOLLARS ARE VF TO AU - MY FATHER BOUGHT THEM YEARS AGO. These were accumulated by my father who simply accumulated coins he was a collector of coins. They were not seen or gone through by anyone. My father pasted at the age of 95 last year. I have no Idea what he paid for them or what they are worth.I seen them in VG condition on internet for $195.00 these are Very Fine all the way up to About Uncirculated according to the letter and certification of authenticity that came with them look at photo's. BUY THEM FOR GIFTS OR FOR YOURSELF. (next one purchased may pick the date they want.) BUY IT SEND A MESSAGE OF DATE WANTED, I WILL SEND YOU THE DATE YOU WANT AND THEN REMOVE THAT YEAR FROM LIST. I TOOK THESE PHOTOS WITH MY IPHONE SO THE COINS ARE BETTER THEN THE PHOTO'S THE ARE REALLY NICE.LOOK at the description in the wording below it is remarkable of the shape of these America's First Silver Dollars. The following is the wording on a letter that I found with these coins, that came with these coins when my father purchased them. (I WILL SEND A COPY & AUTHENTICATION CERT'S ALONG WITH EACH COIN THE LETTER ALSO HAS PICTURES OF THE 8 REAL GROUP OF COINS.) THE FOLLOWING LETTER CAME WITH THESE COINS READS AS FOLLOWS: Minted in silver Mexico, these large, beautiful 8-Reals (‘8 bits”) coins were the most popular silver dollar used in the 13 Colonies. On the recommendation of Thomas Jefferson, this widely-used Spanish coin was adopted as an official U.S. silver dollar, and it remained legal tender in the U.S. until 1857! Our founding fathers used this type of silver dollar every day, and it became the foundation of our own U.S. silver coinage. The Bourbon king's portrait on the obverse and the legendary pillar reverse have classic distinction— and the pillar scroll is probably the forerunner of the U.S. dollar sign ($). Many of these magnificent silver dollars were carried by New England clipper ships to the Far East for use in the China Trade— where they were "chop-marked" by Chinese merchants who routinely tested the silver content. Those that remained in the U.S. usually became well-worn from circulation, and today, few coins survive without chop-marks or heavy wear. We were amazed when we recently found a good-sized group of high-grade examples without chopmarks which had been carefully stored away for many years. We've handled thousands of these silver dollars over the years, and have never seen any which can rival these. They range in condition from Very Fine all the way up to About Uncirculated, and each 39mm coin contains 27 grams of .9003 silver. There are two Spanish Kings represented— Charles IV (1788-1808) and Ferdinand VII (1808-1833). Dates and rulers are of our choice, but if you order more than one example, we will provide you with as many dates as possible. Prices on these have been going up recently, so a prompt order is recommended.DATES ON THE COINS ARE (2)1794, (1)1797 (1)1803, (2)1806, (1)1816, &(1)1821
