HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!! DESCRIPTION: This is a STUPENDOUS sterling silver bracelet that was hand wrought in Mexico, circa late 1940's/early 1950's. It is masterfully crafted in a timeless and elegant organic motif that was originated by silver maestra MARGOT VAN VOORHIES CARR of MARGOT DE TAXCO ~ it was her design number #5210. The identical bracelet is featured on page 110, photo plate VI-26, in the must have book "Margot Van Voorhies ~ The Art of Mexican Enamelwork" by Dr. Penny Morrill. This bracelet is made of 980 silver which is almost PURE silver and is superior to sterling silver 925. It consists of sterling silver repousse links that have copper vermeil demi spheres that are surrounded with feminine scroll flourishes and teeny tiny silver bead accents. Repoussage is a silver working technique in which a malleable metals (such as sterling silver) is shaped or ornamented by hammering from the reverse or under side. This technique is extremely time consuming and can take an artist an entire day or many days to complete just one piece. The silver has acquired a wonderful, soft patina that reflects the shadows created by the depth of the designs. The links connect as part of the design which gives the necklace beautiful, uninterrupted design flow. The clasp is a simple hook closure that is seen on much of the early Mexican jewelry. Please note that the matching necklace is also listed and the bracelet and necklace can be joined to form one 24" long necklace. This bracelet is extremely well made in a artistic and sophisticated design ~ an art-to-wear treasure that will be one of your all-time favorites ~ it would be a grand asset to any vintage Taxco silver collection.
