Genuine, authentic, original hand signed War Hoffmann photograph of Luftwaffe Oberst Werner Baumbach. Baumbach was a highly decorated German Air Force bomber Ace and wing commander during WW2. During WW2, Baumbach was best known as Commander of Kampfgeschwader 30 and is credited with the destruction of over 300,000 gross register tons of allied shipping! He survived the War, but oddly died in a test plane accident in Argentina in 1953. Because of his military successes, he was awarded the Luftwaffe Front Flying Clasp in Gold, the Luftwaffe Pilot Observers Badge in Gold with Diamonds and the Ehrenpokal. Because of his extreme personal bravery and successful military leadership in combat, Baumbach was awarded the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords...one of only 147 soldiers to receive this high honor during the War! He was also mentioned 2 times in the Wehrmachtbericht! The postcard size War Heinrich Hoffmann sepia colored portrait print photograph on printed Feldpost paper shows Baumbach as a Luftwaffe Major wearing his Knights Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords and he has signed his name below his image in black pencil. The contrast is about 8-9 with 10 tops. The reverse side has Feldpost mark, unused and is in very good plus condition. Along with another full color Wilhelm Willrich portrait print unsigned showing Baumbach as Hauptmann and the reverse side has writing (sorry I cannot read it), and has Feldpost marks postmarked 1944. It is in good condition. Total: 2 items. I have been a member of the Manuscript Society since 1956 and am selling part of my collection. See my other Ebay offers.
