Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 A fine mottled yellow/brown/red stone stamp seal, the upper body decorated with the head of a duck. The underside of the seal is decorated with indistinct patterns - they look like they were added/re-used at different phases. There's a few small incisions which look like they may be cuneiform suggesting re-use over many centuries after first manufacture. Sumerian, Jemdet Nasr, late 4th to early 3rd Millennium BC. Large: 4.1 cms maximum width. The duck head is quite finely detailed, the seal base is very worn. Ex. collection: Alan Cotterill, Nottingham, UK; acquired 1970's-1980's in the UK. Seal impression as well as a couple of old collector's notes on cards supplied with this item.
